Copyrights and Plagerism

Don't forget to give credit in your Ecosystem project to the places where you got your information and images. Here is a video reminding you of why this is important and what information you should include.

Remember these can be called citations, works cited or a bibliography (depending on which system your teacher used!) We will be using the following website to create our citations using the APA tab.

http://www.bibme.org/

Here is an example of what that might look like (we will practice this together in class.) This is a citation for the video above:

Project Exemplar

Here is an example of a slideshow about the Rainforest ecosystem. We will be presenting our projects on the week of December 12th, projects should be complete by then. I will put up a sign up sheet for anyone wanting to go first, after that we will draw numbers. Read over your rubric to ensure that you have all of the requirements.

Innovation Lab Expectations

Below is a link to a Padlet and a letter that will be emailed to parents once it has been completed. Following our morning meeting, you will work in groups to create a list of expectations for while we are working in the Innovation Lab.

Please open the Google Doc and add your rules. When all the rules have been added, everyone will add their names to the document stating that you agree to abide by these expectations.

Browsers

We utilize many internet tools in our classroom. Most often we are using Chromebooks at school, so we use Google Chrome to access the internet. If you or your student need to access the internet at home, I suggest using one of the following browsers:

     Google Chrome                        Mozilla Firefox

Internet Explorer               Safari - For Apple Products

*Note occasionally some videos may not run on every browser, you may want to have more than one downloaded.

Innovative Thinkers!

This year we will be engaging our brains and thinking about how we can solve real-world problems! We will be using Design Thinking during our projects to better empathize with those who are dealing with problems, define what the problems are, brainstorm ideas to solve the problems and then create and test potential solutions. This process will help students become better problem solvers, build critical thinking skills and learn how to deal with failure so we can keep moving forward! Below is a model of this process:

Rev up your engines and roll up your sleeves, we have problems to solve!

*Here is a great resource from Stanford University on how to integrate Design Thinking.

** And a great resource for prepared, grade appropriate lessons using this process.
